Istanbul - Turkey
Date : July 22, 2018
Route : Kanlıca (Asia) - Kuruçeşme (Europea)
Swimming Period : limited to 2 hours maximum
Every year in July the Bosphours is closed to boat traffic for one day and hundreds of swimmers from all around the world challenge their opponents, the currents of the Bosphorus, and themselves in the Samsung Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swimming Race, covering a 6.5 km distance from the Asian continent to the European continent.
The layout of İstanbul can seem confusing at first. The Bosphorus divides the city into the European and Asian sides, linked by 3 magnificient bridges, spanning the continents.
Swimming between continents is something that few people in the world rarely have an opportunity to do. But the Samsung Bosphorus Cross Continental Swim is excellently organized to offer this dramatic possibility to thousands of people every year.
Positioning the Bosphorus Cross-Continental Race as an environmentally respectful ‘matchless experience’ that has; integrated the global vision of the 21st Century encompassing the essence and the common universal values of the human civilisation through not monism but pluralism, and embraced the principals of the Republic, National Olympic Committee of Turkey and Olympism.

With over 8,333 km of coastline along the four seas, Turkey is a treasure chest of coves, inlets, bays and beaches at which yachtsmen can choose a different, private anchorage each night.
Sailing in Turkey also allows visitors to experience the hospitality of the people in the coastal villages and towns. The tempered winds blowing from west and northwest make the long summers ideal for yachting, and seem to encourage an appreciation of nature. From some of the turquoise coast's unspoilt and sheltered bays you can see mountain peaks rising to almost 3000 meters above sea level.
