Sailing in Turkey also allows visitors to experience the hospitality of the people in the coastal villages and towns. The tempered winds blowing from west and northwest make the long summers ideal for yachting, and seem to encourage an appreciation of nature. From some of the turquoise coast's unspoilt and sheltered bays you can see mountain peaks rising to almost 3000 meters above sea level.

Gerence Koyu lies on the south of point Gerence Burnu, indenting to the west. The shores except northern part are densily wooded by pine trees.

This bay affords all-round shelter, but it is open to NE and SE. Boats can either anchor off by beach in 6 - 7 meters and get a line ashore or pushed off in the middle. The bottom is sand among weed. There is clear turquoise water.

The settings are attractive. Gerence is a favorite layover port for those cruising westward to Körmen and Knidos.
