Dirsek Bükü (Ağıl Bükü) is an isolated area along the coast of Turkey. There is no road access. To access this spot, you must sail into the bay. It is about an hour’s sail south from Orhaniye. Dirsek Bükü is a timeless place to anchor and stay overnight. It’s a place that preserves your energy if not replenishes it. The peace, the quiet, the breathtaking scenery and clear waters is ultimately alluring.

Dirsek Bükü lies on the south of the point; Ağıl Burnu. It indents to the west and makes L shape. This bay provides the best sheltering among the coves on the SW coast of Hisarönü Bay. It gets swell penetration from the strong northerlies. The bottom is sand. Good holding.

A pristine unspoiled anchorage with a fine taverna in the SW corner. There is a tiny, local restaurant with a stone pier along the shorefront to tie up, stern in.

JETTY

Passage Planning
If you are leaving Marmaris Port/Harbour set a southerly rhumb line on 146 (CTS) for 4.6 nm this will get you to headland to allow you then head in a south westerly direction. Set your second rhumb line for 223 (CTS) for approximately 17nm. Finally set a third rhumb line for 301 (CTS) for 2.6 nm this will get you to the entrance of Bozuk Buku. The fortress walls will be visible on the port side at the top of the cliff entrance.

Pilotage Plan
You can sail or motor to Loryma Restaurant. Head up on 321 (CTS) to the very end keeping to the right hand side of the bay. As you arrive Beki or Paul will meet you in our ‘run around’ to offer you either a wet mooring or a pier mooring!

Parking the yacht for the less experienced !!
If you are a bit nervous about mooring up the pier or a wet mooring we will with your granted permission come on board and assist you – no problem. The last thing we want is for you and your crew to get stressed on the last part of your day’s sailing.

Anchorage Details
Tidal movement is general very minimal. The most being approximately 1 m
The depth at the jetty is approximately 8 - 10 metres
The depth on the ‘wet moorings’ is approximately 12 - 15 metres

The Jetty Option
The Jetty mooring allows for 20+ yachts
The Jetty has laid moorings, allowing for yachts to go ‘stern or bows to’ with the option of Loryma staff to assist the skipper with securing the lines if needed. Many Catamarans regularly return to Loryma Restaurant for safe anchorage offering the same options as the ‘mono’s.

Mooring Assistance
Moorings are available. There are several coves within Bozukkale, each with excellent protection from the prevailing westerly winds. The bottom is weedy, so it’s best to only anchor in a sandy patch. Make sure the anchor is well set. Dinghy dockage is available.

Assistance with mooring is offered by the Loryma staff if conditions are challenging or if you have limited experience for both the wet mooring and jetty option. If on the wet mooring we will be in our ‘run about’ holding the mooring line as you approach bows to, for ease of comfort for your crew member.

Ferry Service
Sometimes it is nice not to have to lower the Rib and set up the outboard, for the short ride to the Jetty for dinner etc. Therefore we would be most pleased to ferry you and your crew to and from the Restaurant if this is your desire.

Security
Should the wind get up, or you are concerned about leaving the boat we will keep a 24 hour watchful eye on your yacht on either a wet or jetty mooring in a discrete manner to ensure a peaceful stay.

Some request the famous Loryma Restaurant ‘Omelettes’ whilst others seek to enjoy a traditional breakfast of succulent olives, tomatoes, variety of local cheeses with olive oil. Whilst, others want a Continental style breakfast. Freshly baked bread and toast are an option for some who prefer to try the local honey of the Region or the local jams!

Exclusive Beach Access
As part of the Loryma Restaurant there is a wonderful beach with sun lounges positioned for all those who want to chill out during the afternoon. The views are absolutely stunning.

Many yachts arrive and plan to stay only one night but stay for a few days to really enjoy the peace, tranquillity, views and exceptional food. Typical days see many have a light breakfast and catch up on emails etc. Most seek a light lunch and retire to on of the sun lounges on the beach to rest and relax. Later during early evening many catch up with old friends over cocktails etc before dining the night away under the stars!

Swimming
You can enjoy a swim in the warm sea either from the beach or from the pier. Many swim to other parts of the beach or uninhabited inlets to explore

KARACASÖĞÜT ANCHORAGE

Söğüt Bay lies on the southwest of Karaca Ada, between Points Dede Burnu and Küçükyalı Burnu. The slopes are covered by pine forest.The large planting area behind with its stream is very productive. There are several anchorages in the bay.

The village is surrounded by pines; and since it is in Gökova Specially Protected Enviroment Area, housing is at minimum level. Besides, the historical ruins around makes Karaca a grade 1 archaeological site. Most ruins belong to Hellenistic era. Even though there is not too much remnants from ancient cities of Amnistos and Euthenna, a significant excavation is yet to be done.

Even though village is famous for maritime activities, its main sources of income are agriculture and apiculture. Local tomato, peach and strawberry taste very good. 70% of fruits sold at Marmaris market are supplied from Karaca. Greenhouse cultivation enables peasants to gather crop from these fertile lands during 12 months.

Karaca is a coast village, offering you the best fish dishes at restaurants in downtown or surrounding coves. Fishing boats serve for aficionados, organising daily fishing trips.

There are good depths and the bottom is good for anchor holding. Söğüt Bay is a winter port, providing all-round shelters. A number of boats are wintered afloat here. The water here is well known for its purity. A nice fountain is built in the place of village where Ottoman Naval Commander Piri Reis has got his water.

Global Sailing Marinet

The shores on the west at the entry, are adequate shelters with a line ashore. The bights on north and south by the Global Sailing Academy are attractive anchorages. The settings are beautiful.

Sögüt is a large bay that provides an all around shelter. There are three mooring possibilities. The Yacht Club, the"town quay" (really just a wooden pontoon) and the restaurant pontoon. The restaurant also provides excellent water. Or you can anchor off. Anchor in 12 - 14 m.

Village Jetty

The shores on the east are open to westerlies, they are fairweather anchorages. The jetty by the village side has berthing capacity up to 50 boats. Village administration manages the jetty. Water, electricity and wireless connection are available. No moorings. Provisions are available from the markets. Ice and butane bottles are found. Fuel can be obtained from tanker- truck. State clinic is located in the village zone.

A wooden pier with berthing capacity for 15 boats, extends in the middle, near by the stream. The depths come up quickly to the shore. Laid moorings tailed to the quay. Water, electricty and wireless connections are available. There is a restaurant and market in the complex. Laundry service is given to the visitors.

Plant species: Turkish pine, sage, thyme, laurel, wild strawberry, holy oak, sandalwood, laurel, carob, olive, sweet gum, plane, Jerusalem thorn, heather, myrtle, pamuklu, lily, narcissus

Animal species: Boar, bear, fox, rabbit, lynx, hedgehog, chameleon, hawk, crow, ouzel, magpie, partridge, nightingale, goldfinch, fish (sea bream, red mullet, red sea bream, grouper)

Regular transport services are available to Marmaris 22 km.  3 daily minibus services from Marmaris

ARRIVAL PROCEDURE
Yalıkavak Marina Traffic Control Tower team is available 24 h and MUST be contacted via VHF before arrival and prior to departure. Upon arrival, please provide the following information: Vessel name, Vessel length, Berth number (if known), Last port of call (if arriving from a foreign port.

ENTERING THE MARINA
The entrance to the marina is marked with red and green lights on the breakwaters. Please wait for pilot dinghy assistance before entering the marina.

PILOTAGE
Pilotage is compulsory for all boats of over 1000 GT (gross tonnes). The Pilot may be organised through our Yacht Assist team and the Pilot boarding station is on the entrance of the bay (for arrivals).

ANCHORING
All berths are equipped with mooring lines ans anchoring is not allowed within the marina

MOORING
The mooring system for boats at is “Med” or “stern to” for yachts on all docks and pontoons, with the exception of pontoon G where berthing is alongside The mooring system consists of two bow mooring lines. Please be sure to contact the marina on VHF 72 to ensure the marina staff will be at your slip on arrival or departure to assist with line handling.

The marina has 30 pontoons; each is 20 m long and is equipped with Rolec pedestals with water and electricity (16 to 260 amp service), as well as TV and phone hookups.
Laid moorings are tailed to the pontoons.

MEDITERRANEAN MONK SEALS
Yalıkavak has been announced as breeding and sheltering area of Mediterranean seals. The Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus monachus) is a pinniped belonging to the Phocidae family. One of the most endangered mammals in the world. It is present in parts of the Mediterranean Sea as well as eastern Atlantic Ocean waters around the Tropic of Cancer.

One of the largest groups among the foundations concentrating their efforts towards the preservation of the Mediterranean monk seal is the Mediterranean Seal Research Group operating under the Underwater Research Foundation in Turkey (also known as SAD-AFAG). The group has taken initiative in joint preservation efforts together with the Foça municipal officials, as well as phone, fax, and email hotlines for sightings.

Hisarönü is the richest village around Marmaris in terms of history. During Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman eras, common belief was that the clean sea and all green nature healed many diseases. With its area of 76 km2, Hisarönü is the biggest village of Marmaris, and among the largest in Turkey. Notable politicians and statesmen come to village for summer holiday.

On the plain called Pazarlık on Mount Eren, there are ruins of Kastabos city, which was a cult centre in ancient period. The existing remnants in Kastabos belong to Hemithea Temple. The temple served as a healthcare sanctuary where patients, especially childless women, were healed in their dreams. Hisarönü is considered as continuation of ancient city of Bybassos. This is why you can come across not only at higher sites, but also around the beach which was once used as a harbour.

Hisarönü is a tourist resort village in the Fethiye district of the Muğla Province of Turkey. It is situated at the western extreme of the Mediterranean coast of Turkey and the southern extreme of the Aegean coast. Hisarönü is the most popular sea tourism site around Marmaris thanks to shallow waters and long beaches. The coastline is 115 km long. The ever-breezy weather and clean water is good for asthma and heart disorders. The breezy weather attracts also windsurfers and makes Hisarönü the best windsurfing venue in the region.

The geographical characteristic of the village is that the area where it is located on Datça-Bozburun peninsula sees Gulf of Gökova on one side and Gulf of Hisarönü on the other. İnbükü (Emel Sayın) Cove, Kartal Cove, Tavşan Island and Bencik Harbour are ideal for yachts. It is worth mentioning that Hisarönü coast is the best place to watch the sunset in Marmaris.

Between Hisarönü and Orhaniye there are a number of smaller coves, some with beach clubs, where you can spend a relaxing few hours sipping a cool refreshing drink as you soak up the stunning scenery and enjoy the peace. There are clubs and you may have horse riding safari in the shores and in the forests. The region have hosted the ancient city of Bybassos so you may take a history walk around the city remnants.

“Gökçopur”, a fish menu with vegetables, is a traditional local dish. We would also recommend you to get some cornbread from Hisarönü since the village is a master of craft. Other notable local products include honeydew honey and flower honey.

The sea is shallow and the sand is tile colored. People preferring a calm and quite holiday mostly chose Hisaronu region. The water and the fresh air in Hisaronu is very healthy for the people having asthma and heart diseases. During the season, the weather gets windy sometimes and this attracts the windsurfing fans.

DINING
Hisarönu has several restaurants and bars and a couple of mini-markets where you can stock up on essentials.

BEACH
There is a wide sandy beach backed by shady pine trees. There is almost always a refreshing breeze so you don’t have to swelter when you sunbathe. The water never duck-pond-still, which makes Hisarönü a popular choice for windsurfing and sailing and there is an excellent school in the village.

Transportation
Turning left on the 22nd kilometre of Marmaris-Datça highway, you arrive at Hisarönü downtown after 1 km. There are 6 km between Değirmenyanı Neighbourhood near Marmaris and the village centre. The centre takes 23 km from Marmaris and 79 km from Muğla. There are hourly minibus services between Hisarönü and Marmaris for entire year. The services end at 00.00 in summer, and 21.00 in winter.

AĞA LİMANI ANCHORAGE

The twin bays of Ağa Limanı are a tempting place to drop anchor. This is a bay that many local people prefer to visit at weekends to rest with their families and have a picnic. There is a spring in the bay, which is available all year round. Wild animals also visit this bay when it is quiet to drink water and also to eat the food that has been left from the picnics.

You are able simply to relax, swim, try your luck at fishing or take even a long walk along the beach. The sea is extremely clean it and water is cooler than elsewhere as a result of the underwater source near the beach.

Ağa Limanı lies 1 Nm north of point; Kızılkuyruk Burnu, indents like a slingshot, with a creek at the head of each arm. The bay is open to east. The cove on the west is Büyük Koy, the one on the northwest is Küçük Koy. The coves in Ağa Limanı are favourite stopover ports for boats cruising north and westward. When heading that direction, raise your anchor early before the breeze gets up to avoid cross-swell and choppy seas around Point Kurdoğlu and Dişibilmez.

Sailing around the region of Marmaris while on your yacht or blue cruise will take you to many different places and none is as cosy and secluded as this little cove. It’s almost picture perfect because of how rustic is looks. Only a few boats can set anchor here at a time giving you enough privacy to enjoy the view of rocky slopes and the pine trees.

Most of the cruises that stop are heading either north or west. There is a small white sandy beach that you can swim ashore and then can sunbathe from, however, this bay lacks in facilities so bring along the things you might need. Water or some snacks for a picnic. Or better yet take a snooze right on the beach sand or hike to the nearby ruins.

Hiking up the slopes will also give you a stunning view of the entire cove. This is a popular stopover to relax in the tranquil waters before heading to more crowded areas. The sunset here is also quite romantic should you stick around long enough to see it.

Küçük Koy ends in a shingle beach. Boats can anchor in 8 - 10 m off the beach and take a line ashore. Prevailing winds cause swell.

Büyük Koy, extends to the east,  it narrows and ends in a shingle beach. The water is deep and gently shelves ashore. Boats drop anchor off the beach and get a line ashore to the beach side. Strong westerlies send in swell. Ease your chain as much as possible and pay attention to the rocky bottom in some parts. A rough path takes you to Köyiçi (800 m), where you will find Roman and Byzantine ruins.

Pazar is a town and district of Rize Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey, 37 km east of the city of Rize. Pazar is a strip of Black Sea coast with high mountains running parallel to the coast inland.

Today Pazar is a market town, and the centre of the local tea trade. Fishing was once a major activity and Pazar still has a fleet of small fishing boats although this is in decline as the Black Sea becomes polluted and the traditional anchovies, flathead mullet, red mullet and other species are all in decline.
