Avşa Adası in the south of Sea of Marmara. The island belongs to Marmara district of Balıkesir Province in northwestern Turkey. Port Marmara lies on the SW corner of the large, mountainous island of Marmara Adasıı. White marble is mined on the northern side of the island and is well-known for its purity. Unfortunately this does mean that the area surrounding the port is an open pit mine and not a pretty sight.
Avşa is a holiday village of island that boasts of spectacular beaches and clear water as well as famous vineyards and wine cellars. Avsa Island is with its' clean air with much oxygen, brilliant water, granite sand, delicious fish, wine, music and joy full nights, the most beautiful among the islands of the Marmara Sea.
MARINA
The basic infrastructure of a new marina has been installed on the headland of Ekinlik Burnu opposite the small island of Ekinlik off the NW corner of Avşa Island. The marina currently consists of little more than two breakwaters and quays, with no shore facilities at present, but yachts are reportedly allowed to moor there alongside for short periods.
In the approach, the two ends of the breakwaters are indicated by conspicuous light towers. There are gusts in the channel between Avsa and Ekincik with moderate to strong NE winds.
Docking
It is a very crowded harbour and yachts are usually directed to berth on the northern quay, where care must be taken to avoid the underwater rubble. There is excellent shelter here. Anchoring is also possible in the bay, good holding and shelter from all winds except Northwest.

The azure waters of the Mediterranean, the Aegean, and the Black Sea, as well as the Sea of Marmara, surround There are marinas, yacht building boatyards, yachtsmen hotels, yacht clubs, yacht technical services. Turkey to the south, west and north. With over 8,333 km of coastline along the four seas, Turkey is a treasure chest of coves, inlets, bays and beaches at which yachtsmen can choose a different, private anchorage each night.
Sailing in Turkey also allows visitors to experience the hospitality of the people in the coastal villages and towns. The tempered winds blowing from west and northwest make the long summers ideal for yachting, and seem to encourage an appreciation of nature. From some of the turquoise coast's unspoilt and sheltered bays you can see mountain peaks rising to almost 3000 meters above sea level.
