ONDOKUZMAYIS UNIVERSITY
Ondokuz Mayıs University is a modern state local university founded in 1975. Its main campus (Kurupelit) is located in Samsun, a city with an international harbour in the North of Turkey on the coast of the Black Sea. It has faculties and schools spread across Samsun and 6 counties. Kurupelit Campus is situated on a land of 10,000 acres with a view of the Black Sea on the one side and a view of the nationally famous Kocadag Mountain on the other side, which is well known for its national yearly walks.

The Universitys first and largest faculty, the Faculty of Medicine, is also a university hospital. Similarly, the Faculty of Dentistry is a Dental Hospital. Serving the inhabitants of the entire Black Sea region, both faculties provide treatment in all areas of health and dental care.

The marina is to the north of the commercial harbour, which is a busy port, the entrance can be obscured by ships at anchor.

Formalities
Samsun is a Port of Entry but all officials are based in the commercial harbour, close to the ferry terminal. Samsun Yacht Club staff can help with formalities which are not always straight forward.

Yakakent is the central town of Yakakent district in Samsun Province of Turkey, located on the Black Sea coast. Yakakent is a harbor located about 30 nM west of Sinop and 55 nM east of Samsun. While the harbor is large and not very deep. One can anchor off either in the inner harbor or at the outer in 3 m. The bottom is soft mud and the holding is good.

It consists of an inner and an outer harbor. The inner harbor is usually full of fishing boats which were rafted along the quay under strong lights. There are unmarked shallow areas in the outer harbor.
