Orhaniye is one of several bays, which make up the area called Hisarönü. Orhaniye is a small enchantingly peaceful village, and the two main occupations of the villagers are fishing, agriculture. The beauty of its location, and the warmth of the welcome from the family ensure that boat visitors from far and wide return here again and again.

Palmiye hotel and restaurant is situated in what many people say is the most beautiful bay on the entire turquoise coast of Turkey. The hotel is close to the head of the bay, and is only 20 metres from the sea, offering beautiful panoramic views of the bay and sand spit.

MARINA

The Palmiye hotel jetty recently gained full Turkish marina status so can accommodate private and charter yachts through the winter months, offering guardianage, service and bond facilities, fuel and Blue card pump out. The Palmiye hotel and marina is very famous with the yachting crowd as it has a long jetty in the bay. It is now a fully licensed Turkish Marina so charges for berths.

The marina has everything you would expect of a marina hotel including bar, restaurant, pool, Wi-Fi, ATM, car hire & airport transfers. Both yachts and motor boats are made welcome on Palmiye's own boat jetty, which has free electric and water and laid moorings. There are free shower and toilet facilities, and a prompt laundry service should you require it.

Approx 8000 square metres of hardstanding, enough for 75 - 85 yachts. A lift system and full guardianage and service facilities available on site.

RESTAURANT

This tasteful and comfortable restaurant will seat 100 people. Guests can choose to have their meal in the large indoor restaurant, or outside in the beautiful garden setting. All dishes are cooked by Mama using homegrown fresh vegetables from her own garden. There is an extensive menu, which includes traditional Turkish and European cuisine, and all meals are served within the friendly family atmosphere that is the well-known trademark of this hotel. Family members and staff who speak several languages will serve you.

BARS
There are two bars to choose from. One poolside and one in the restaurant, and you will find a comprehensive selection of drinks available, from local beers, raki and spirits, to imported drinks and cocktails. If you would like a bottle of wine then take your pick from the extensive and varied wine list.

SWIMMING POOL
The fresh water outdoor swimming pool is meticulously maintained, and has full lounging facilities. There is a poolside service available all day for drinks and meals.

ROOMS
There are 14 tastefully furnished rooms at Palmiye, to cater for up to three people. They all have balconies so that guests can enjoy the wonderful view of Orhaniye Bay. All rooms have air conditioning and en suite shower with w.c. and wash basin.

Cleaning is done daily and linen changed every 3 days, and there is an optional prompt laundry service available. Every room is fitted with anti-mosquito devices, and valuables can be safely deposited in the hotel safe.

Orhaniye is one of several bays, which make up the area called Hisarönü. Orhaniye is the perfect base to explore the Bozburun Peninsula, protected by our Government so it is completely unspoilt and a rare opportunity to experience traditional Turkish culture and hospitality in the villages along our Peninsula. Although the bay in Orhaniye is marked on sea charts as “Keçibükü” or Goat Bay, all the locals refer to it by more poetic name of “Kızkumu’”, meaning Maiden’s Sands as there is a spit of sand reaching into the bay that you can walk across.

Orhaniye is famous for this so you see people "walking on water" across the bay. The local legend claims that “A local girl who wanted to meet with her lover put some sand in the hem of her skirt and planned to fill the sea with this sand to get to her lover. However, there was not enough sand and she was drowned”. Hence, the word Kizkumu which in Turkish means “girl sand”.

Orhaniye Bay lies between points; Babaç and Tülü. This bay indents to to the south for about 1,5 Nm. The shores are densely wooded by pine trees.

Martı Marina stands on your port side at the entry. This lovely bay is dominated by the large Martı Marina. The marina provides all the services. In addition to Martı Marina you can moor for free (provided you eat there) at the dock of Zuhal's Restaurant (just 1 Nm N of Martı Marina) and at Kadirs Restaurant at the SW tip of the bay. There are also three other restaurants at the southern end of the inlet, all with jetties, laid moorings, water and electricity and even (in some cases) free wi-fi.

Once Kale Adası is turned and coursed to the west, you come up the most adequate anchorage, providing all-round sheltering. Boats can be anchored off in 8 - 10 m. The bottom is muddy and it provides excellent holding. You can take a line ashore. There is a light and cool breeze in hot summer days. It is a cozy anchorage with attractive settings.

A newly built restaurant with pier affods adequate anchorage. Boats go stern to the piers and there laid moorings tailed on. Water and electricty are available. Provisions can be found from market behind.

A sand bank, which is formed by red sand, extends to the south for about 430 m from the coast. The tip of the bank is marked.

Also you can anchor behind the little island with the Byzantine fort.

Danger: Watch out for the very shallow region on the SE end of the bay.

The restaurants with their wooden pier on the south of the bay are also adequate anchorages. Boats go stern to the piers and pick up tailed moorings. Water and electricity can be obtained. Most provisions are found from the markets. Fuel supply is from the truck tanker.

HISTORICAL PLACES

Bybassos
It is well worth visiting Bayır Waterfall 8 km and seeing some fragments from ancient Bybassos. It is believed that Bybassos City settlements were on the slopes of mountains. There are some fragments of the castle and theatre. People used to sleep for medical treatment in the temple in Eren Mountain dedicated to Hemitia, Goddess of health.

According to mythology, King Staphylus of Rhodes had two daughters, Molpadia and Partheos. One day, the King assigned them the task of protecting a newly discovered sacred wine. A few nights later, while the two girls slept, some pigs broke in, knocked over the kegs, and spilled much of the sacred wine. The girls woke up in the middle of the commotion and were overcome with grief as soon as they saw what had happened.

Fearing their father’s rage, they jumped off a cliff to their deaths. Finding them at the bottom of the precipice, the god Apollo resuscitated them both. He took Molpadia to Pazarlık,on the Gulf of Hisarönü, endowed her with medical skill, and left her to her own devices. She became known as Hemithea and a temple was erected in her name.

The sea of Orhaniye is always as flat as a sheet. The colour of the pine trees that surround the area are reflected on the sea, giving it a shade peculiar to this region. The area is so quiet that when you swim you can only hear the sound you create in the water.

Kale Adası

In the middle of the cove there is an island and on top of the island there are the ruins of a castle. It is believed that the castle belonged to the ancient city of Baybassos. You can get to the island by hiring a caique (small boat) and then walking to the ruins of the castle along the path. The view from here is brilliant and is worth the effort. The people of Baybassos brought water to the island from the waterfall in Turgut through aqueducts and a pipe laid under the water.

From Orhaniye there are boat tours to the Gulf of Hisarönü. There are stops at places such as the coves of Selimiye, Hisarönü and İnbükü and the island of Dişlice. The tours include lunch and last until the evening. Dişlice Island, located opposite the hill facing Hisarönü where the Robinson Club Maris Hotel, is popular for its small canyons and stone formations.

At the entrance of Orhaniye Cove there is the Keçi Bükü (inlet) where yachts moor in summer and winter and where they are maintained at the Martı Marina and the Hotel. Just next to these facilities are the ruins of an ancient monastery. It is worth seeing the mosaics in the garden.

Orhaniye is a lovely small resort on the western side of the Bozburun Peninsula. Orhaniye well known amongst the boating fraternity as it is home to Martı Marina. This is the largest marina outside of Marmaris on the Bozburun Peninsula, and is home to many private yachts as the area has some of the best sailing in the whole of the Mediterranean.

Orhaniye is split into two : The valley of Keçibükü and the houses and restaurants that straggle the road to Bozburun. The village extends inland for 2 km and consists of huddles of houses separated by open land. The pretty bay of Orhaniye contains an island with picturesque castle ruins : it is believed that the castle belongs to the ancient city of Bybassos.

Kızkumu
Orhaniye's claim to fame is the 600 metre long sand spit called "Kizkumu" - "Maiden's Beach".  According to the legend, the daughter of the Bybassos King, a beautiful princess, went into the sea to escape from pirates. As she didn't know how to swim, she filled her skirt with sand, cast this before her so she could walk on it, and tried to cross the cove. She lost her way when it got dark, and as she neared the far shore, she ran out of sand, and was tragically drowned.

In mythology Hemithea is the daughter of Staphylus king of Rhodes. He asked his daughters Molpadia and Parthenos to watch the harvested grapes but they fell asleep and boars ate the fruit. Out of fear for their father they jumped from the cliffs into the sea. Apollo saved them and took Parthenos to Barbassos where she built a temple, and Molpadia to Pazarcik, a small mountain village nearby. Molpadia is the one who is said to have the power to cure people in their sleep, so the villagers called her Hemitea and built this goddess the temple in Kastabos.

You will be puzzled by the sight of people apparently walking on the sea. Thanks to the movement of the sand there is a shallow bar in the middle of the cove that divides it in two. This ribbon, of approximately 600 metres, is called Kızkumu. There is also a legend attached to it. "A girl who wanted to meet with her lover put some sand in the hem of her skirt and planned to fill the sea with this sand to get to her lover. However, there was not enough sand and she was drowned". By way of explanation, the word Kızkumu means "girl sand".

The remnants of her sand pathway can still be seen. It is possible to walk out along the sand bar, whilst wading in water that is only just above your ankles. From the shore, you will appear to be “walking on water”.

Marti marina is a modern marina with good facilities in a great cruising location in the Agean Sea. The marina is 25 km away from the major town of Marmaris in Turkey. The marina is on the Southern Aegean coastline, in the Hisarönü Bay, Marti Marina claims to be the first marina in Turkey where the sea is suitable for bathing. The marina has been awarded a "Blue Flag"

CUSTOMS - CHECK IN - OUT : Bonding of foreign yachts is carried out at Marmaris Customs Office. The Marina is a customs bonded area and foreign flagged yachts can be left in bond.

ENTRY BY CAR : You can enter the marina by car only if you are loading/unloading passengers and/or equipment. Boat owners, marina visitors and guests should park their vehicle in the marina's car parking lot. The responsibility of the car belongs to the car owner. If your car is to be left unattended for more than 24 hours. The keys should be deposited in the marina office so that the staff can move the vehicle should it be necessary.

HOURS OF OPERATION : The Marina is open 24 hours a day. All year round.

MARINA RECEPTION : Reception is open throughout the working day and our ground staff continue to serve you after normal working hours. You can call us on VHF Channel 73 or 16 for any assistance you may require or alternatively visit the office.

YACHT MOVEMENT : For Safety reasons, yachts should notify the Marina of their movements and passage itinerary, whenever possible. The owners of captains should inform the company of their departure and expected return before leaving the Marina.

SPEED : Please observe the Marina speed 3 knots. This applies to tenders also.

TECHNICAL SERVICES : An extensive range of technical service are available upon request. Dry-docking and hauling is served by a 60 ton travel lift.

TOURS AND TRANSFERS : Airport transfers are available upon request. Please book 24 hours in advance at the Marina office. With our luxurious minibus we offer services from the Martı Marina to Içmeler, Marmaris and back. You can get on the bus in front of the office.

ELECTRICITY & WATER
Water and electricity up to 32 amps are free of charge. Usage of electricity over 32 amps and bulk water supplies will be charged for by the marina

LAUNDRY
A self service laundry is open all day; token are available at the marina reception.

MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
First Aid is available at the marina office for minor accidents. In case of a major emergency, an ambulance will be supplied by the marina that will take you to the Private Hospital in Marmaris, a journey of 25 minutes.

MISCELLANEOUS SERVICES
We offer a range of other services such as guardian age, boat valeting etc. Please contact the marina office fur further details and prices.

PTT (Post Office)
The local post office is situated in the main square in Marmaris. An express courier service is also available in Marmaris.

REFUSE AND CONTAMINANTS
Special refuse containers are available on the piers. If you require pump out services for waste oil bilge and dirty water, the Marina can provide this.

SHOPPING
You can obtain most of your needs from our Martı Marina shopping center.

WASHROOMS
First Class toilet and shower facilities are at your service 24 hours a day.

INTERNATIONAL BLUE FLAG
Martı Marina is a Blue Flag awarded establishment for its cleanliness that meets the international standards; that is to say, it's the one and only Marina in Turkey where people can go swimming as well.
As the Martı Marina is built on stakes, the water circulation is not blocked and therefore the sea water always stay clean.
The cradles specially designed by Martı Marina protect the boats on shore, regardless of the weather conditions.
In Martı Marina, a special kind of pump is used to drain and refine the sewage tanks and the bilge of the yachts.
There exists a system, where the oil wastes are collected.
Martı Marina acts on the professional principles under the regulation of the National Yacht Harbour Association in London.
The garbage from the yachts is classified for recycling.

GOLD ANCHOR AWARD SCHEME
The Gold Anchor Award Scheme has been established to improve the standards of Marina facilities available to all boat owners. Marina Operators who are Members of The Yacht Harbour Association may enter the Scheme for assessment. The level of the Award ranges from Three to Five Gold Anchors. Any Award is a sign of a quality marina, whilst the number of anchors indicates the level of the facilities available. WEEKLY MARKET
Most tourists enjoy visiting markets in both Marmaris (Armutalan) and Içmeler. The markets sell most of the same things the local shops stock but one can haggle a bit more. The market in the Armutalan area of Marmaris is on a Thursday and the Içmeler market is every Wednesday.

ENTERTAINMENT
Marmaris is famous for its fantastic nightlife. For pre partying drinks many small bars along the beachfront offer the perfect place to watch the warm sun set. There are a selection of good clubs along the beachfront which play a variety of music and cater to different tastes.

For hard core partiers Bar street is where the party's at. Located in the old town this street has over 100 bars and clubs ranging from rock bars to Club arena, a huge outdoor nightclub with foam parties. All are open to at least 4 am. Beware when drinking in Bar Street as prices are much higher than those along the beach front although entry to most clubs is free and there are periods when there are special offers available.

Orhaniye is one of several bays, which make up the area called Hisarönü. Orhaniye is a small enchantingly peaceful village, and the two main occupations of the villagers are fishing, agriculture. The beauty of its location, and the warmth of the welcome from the family ensure that boat visitors from far and wide return here again and again.

MARINA

The Palmiye hotel jetty recently gained full Turkish marina status so can accommodate private and charter yachts through the winter months, offering guardianage, service and bond facilities, fuel and Blue card pump out. The Palmiye hotel and marina is very famous with the yachting crowd as it has a long jetty in the bay. It is now a fully licensed Turkish Marina so charges for berths.

Hardstandinng Area
Approx 8000 square metres of hardstanding, enough for 75 - 85 yachts. A lift system and full guardianage and service facilities available on site.

The marina has everything you would expect of a marina hotel including bar, restaurant, pool, Wi-Fi, ATM, car hire & airport transfers. Both yachts and motor boats are made welcome on Palmiye's own boat jetty, which has free electric and water and laid moorings. There are free shower and toilet facilities, and a prompt laundry service should you require it.

Palmiye hotel and restaurant is situated in what many people say is the most beautiful bay on the entire turquoise coast of Turkey. The hotel is close to the head of the bay, and is only 20 metres from the sea, offering beautiful panoramic views of the bay and sand spit.

Palmiye is a proper hotel with bars, restaurant, swimming pool and normal facilities such as laundry, Wi-Fi, toilets and showers. The hotel facilities are available for the free use of our clients use during their stay with us. Hotel rooms are also available to coincide with flights.
