This is a small fishing harbour on the Northern Turkish Coast in the Black Sea, 30 Nm East of Şile. Kefken is a town in the Kandıra district of Kocaeli Province and 55 km away from İzmit. It is very popular holiday place and fishery. Kefken is the most advanced town among the coastal settlements of the district. Sea, beach and pine forests are the most important features. It has great qualities with its sea, beaches, and pine forests just like Kerpe.

Kefken Harbour lies on the Black Sea coast of Kocaeli. Fishing is quite improved in Kefken village which is a very ancient settlement unit. There is a fishing cooperative and also the Harbourmaster.

WARNING: Almost the entire area between Şile and Kefken is a Live Firing Practice area, and when active requires a significant detour as detailed on the charts. Check with the Coast Guard in Şile or call them on VHF Channel : 16.

HARBOUR

Approach & Entrance
Approach from the W. The breakwaters will be seen in the approach. Enter on a course of 105º

Berths
Alongside on the S quay or stern to in the NW corner with a line taken ashore. Yachts are welcome here and can moor in the Southern part of the harbour directly alongside the concrete quay, if there is space, or to a fishing boat. Alternatively, there is space to anchor in approx. 3 - 4 m. Beware of the shallow water near the beach on the East side of the harbour and rocks in the SE corner.

Good protection except when wind and waves are from the NW.
