KUMRU (CENNET) COVE ANCHORAGE

Kumru Koyu is a bay just south of Ayvalık. It's very quiet and lovely here, well protected, and it feels a bit like an inland lake. A totally landlocked and very attractive anchorage. Water is clean but ground is mostly clay. Water looks like fuzzy greenish color and ground is not visible.
Around the cove covered wonderful fine trees. Any settlement places not available at seashores.
Water depth is changes between 3 - 7 m. It is safe place for anchoring because closed cove to dangeraus winds.

ORTUNÇ COVE ANCHORAGE

Ortunç Koyu is on the south west of Alibey Adası. ıt is a large bay, lying between Sivribe Point and Pınar Boğazı (Strait). This bay affords adequate shelter for the northerlies. Westerly blowing winds send in swell.
There is a nice hotel amongst the pine trees on the north - east side.
The bottom is weed. Boats drop anchor in 3 - 10 meters. Make sure that your anchor is dug in well. It is always the best to take a line ashore from the southern side if overnight staying is planned.
Ortunç Bay is a favorite spot for the tripper boats from Ayvalık. They constantly churn in and out of the bay. The nights are quite under attractive settings and Lesvos Island’s lights.

GÜMÜŞ COVE ANCHORAGE

Gümüş Koyu is on the northwest side of Alibey Island. It lies on the east of Maden Island. Two cottages are identified from a distance. The entry is from the west. The strait between Alibey and Maden Islands is about 0.5 meter deep and is easily recognized by its color.
Care is required for the shoal water and rocks "Semizhoroz" in the vicinity between Maden and Yellice Islands.
The bottom is weed and sand in some parts. Make sure your anchor is well dug in. Depths gradually shelve ashore. Boats drop anchor in 3 - 5 meters.
This cove affords good shelter from all but, strong easterly blowing winds push swell in. Patricia Cove is on the east shore, it is walking distance. A rough path goes to the town center of Alibey Adası.

MADEN COVE ANCHORAGE

Maden Adası the Greek Poroselene is a small uninhabited island with a lovely cove. Maden Koyu is a pretty bay on the southeast of Maden Island. Maden Koyu affords adequate shelter from the northerly and westerly blowing winds. There is a limited space for maneuvering; care is required when prevailing wind blows stronger.
Anchor over sand in 5 m. Good protection from the meltemi. The bottom is weed and sand in some parts. Boats can drop anchor in 3 - 4 meters.
The depth on the beach side drops to 2 meters, the bottom here is sand.
This island is called Maden Island due to iron ore mining in the area.
The ruin stone tower on the hill on Maden Island - is from the prehistoric era. It was renovated and converted into a watchtower.

Patriça Koyu is on the west of İğneli Koyu on the northern part of Alibey Adası. This is a large bay on the NE of Alibey Adası, also known as Gokçeliman. It provides good shelter.
The bay shelves to the shore from the long distance. Boats drop anchor in 3 - 4 meters and swing. Patriça Koyu affords all - round shelter but, it is open to southeast.
The shore along with its nice beach is populated with summer residential houses and touristic settlements. There is a road connection to the town center of Alibey Adası.
Ruins on Güvercin Islet can be identified from a distance.

A harbor on the north side of The Lake of Ayvalık on Alibey Adası (island). The island is connected to the mainland by a causeway and is the site of an old Greek village, now a tourist resort. Alibey (Cunda) Island a small road bridge connects Lale Island which in turn is connected by a causeway to the mainland (Ayvalık). Cunda is a unique spot, the narrow streets, renovated houses and churches in its historic settlements are interesting to visit.
Cunda Island, also called Alibey Island is the largest of the Ayvalık Islands archipelago in Turkey, which was historically called the Hekatonisa or Moschonisia archipelago in Greek. It is a small island in the northwestern Aegean Sea, off the coast of Ayvalık in Balıkesir Province.
Alibey Adası Shelter is on the northwest of Port Ayvalık, it lies on the south of Alibey Island.

There are several laid moorings with orange pickup buoys on the quay to the north side of the harbour, one or more of which is usually available to visitors. There are 15 laid moorings tailed on the quay for the visiting yachts.
You can also anchor in the harbour to the south of the pier - good holding in 5 metres.

Setur Ayvalık Marina carries blue flag. The yachts are hauled in and out and pressure washed. Repairments, maintenance, winterizing and periodical services are given by contracted servers. Besides, the regular services such as engine running, battery charge, aeration and bilge control, all kinds of mechanical, technical, electric, carpentry and painting services are given.
The sea depth is a maximum 4.7 meters in the marina, and anchors may not be cast due to its vaulted floor. Bringing yachts to land, lowering them to sea, and pressurized-water washes are some of the services offered. Repair, upkeep, wintering, and periodic care services are some of the services that can be arranged by the service staff. In addition to periodic services such as yacht batteries charging, bilge checks, drying, and motor operations, every sort of mechanical, technical, electrical, carpentry, and painting work can be done as well.

Approach
The entrance to the Ayvalık harbor, virtually resembling a lake, is a narrow canal, which is known as the Dalyan strait. You might not notice the cardinal lighthouse placed to signal the beginning of the canal. The south cardinal lighthouse, resembling two upside-down cones (lit at VQ (6) + LFI 15s at night) marks a shallow spot on the north side of the entrance.
Furthermore, just to the southwest is a red buoy, which marks the southern tip of 5 meter depth. Once alongside the lighthouse, set your course in between the three pairs of concrete lighthouses spaced 40 meters apart on both sides of the Dalyan strait. The depth inside the canal is 6 meters.

Approach
The entrance to the Ayvalık harbor, virtually resembling a lake, is a narrow canal, which is known as the Dalyan strait. This long, clean sandy beach is on the south of Sarımsaklı Peninsula. 8 km. south of the town, Sarimsakli beach is 7 km long and widens up to 100 metres. Along the beach, there are a number of restaurants and hotels. The beaches are great spot for swimming but only fair - weather anchorages.
The bottom is sand, affords good holding in the depths of 2 - 5 meters. The depths quickly shelve ashore.
There are markets, restaurants and cafes ashore. Most provisions can be found.
