Sailing in Turkey also allows visitors to experience the hospitality of the people in the coastal villages and towns. The tempered winds blowing from west and northwest make the long summers ideal for yachting, and seem to encourage an appreciation of nature. From some of the turquoise coast's unspoilt and sheltered bays you can see mountain peaks rising to almost 3000 meters above sea level.

It will be a nice organization for you to discover that there is another world under the sea and to spend a day intertwined with that world. The diving tours realized at the weekends take approximately 7 hours. You are taken from your hotel at 9.30 in the morning and you are brought back to your hotel at 18:00 in the evening. When you first reach the boat, you’ll learn all the necessary information and instructions from our professional team. All the necessary safety precautions are taken carefully. All you need to do is to follow the necessary instructions.

Cave Diving
In general, the caves are the most reliable sources that give information about how the earth used to be many years ago. So we find answers to the questions asked about the evolution of the earth (globe).  Sea caves give information about the geographical location, water levels, coastal features of the seas in the ancient times. The diving in the open seas and the cave diving are completely different from each other. Cave diving is the most technical and dangerous one among the diving types. For this reason, it requires a different and particular training.

Wreck Diving
French (Society) Wreck: The wreck lying 1 km off the Marina of Antalya under the buoy, belongs to French Combat Aircraft named "San Didier" sank during the war in 1942. During the studies performed between 1946 and 1974, a large part of the load inside the ship has been taken out. Inside this ship which has an appearance of hospital support ship, there were armories and vehicles suitable for desert conditions.

Due to the fact that the personnel wasn’t wearing uniform in order to disguise by camouflaging and the passengers in the ship wanted to bring away their personal belongings while the fishermen were helping, the ship was called “society wreck” colloquially. There are different diving activities in Kemer, our tourist town, where the most of the diving schools are present in Turkey. The French military transport ship found right in the entrance of Antalya Port, lies in 20-32 meters of depth, the water that is usually blurred is very interesting for the underwater wreck fans.

The Paris Wreck which lies in 33 meters of depth on the sand in the offshore of Kemer Marina is a wreck that must be visited by all divers. Üç Adalar found in the offshore of Tekirova is a region where various types of diving are available. In the canyon, which is a rich diving spot of the region, large stingrays and every kind of fish can be seen. Üç adalar is also ideal for cave diving. In August and September, schools of tuna fish can be seen as well as the seals.

This water is great for macro and night photographing. The dolphins can be seen in the coastal water any moment.B-24 Amerikan Combat Aircraft Wreck: The wreck lying in 200 m in the offshore, close to the District of Manavgat in Antalya, belongs to the American Combat Aircraft Type B-24 named “Hadley’s Harlem” which departed in order to return to the base in Cyprus after accomplishing its bombing mission over Romania in 1944.

During the removing operations performed in 1995, the plane's cockpit has been brought out of the water, after staying in the Cengel gendarmerie station for a while, it has been transferred to one of the private museums in İstanbul. The operations for taking the rest of the aircraft out of the sea still continue. Special diving permission is required for the aircraft. Gelidonya Antique Wreck: Gelidonya wreck found in the west end of the Antalya Bay, belongs to a cargo ship that hit the rocks while sailing in the cape of Taşlık with its current name.

It’s determined that the ship dates back to the end of 13th century B.C. during the research diving performed for the wreck found in 26-28 meters depth in 1960. Another characteristic of this wreck is that it is the first underwater excavation performed and completed in compliance with the land excavation standards. During the research performed in 1994, it’s predicted from the stone anchors found in Gelidonya wreck that it hails from the Middle East. The collected items from the wreck are exhibited in Bodrum Underwater Archaeology Museum.

Exploration Diving
Stingray Diving Center, the door that opens to the endless depths of blue;

Think about the sunlight shining on you while you are in the deep azure water… If you raise your head and look, you’d see only an intense cloud of light covering you. However there’s only silence and blue all around you… At the same time, utterly endless and ready to be discovered. Corals in different colors and textures, thousands of species of fish and all living things that you can’t see on earth... Underwater is still like a hidden paradise... But you can go and explore again this world!

Stingray Diving School organizes the exploration dives for you in order to take a unique journey in the depths of the blue world.

Night Diving
What makes attractive the night diving for the divers is that the underwater life and living species can’t be seen exactly when dived in the morning.  Because the light source of the night diving is the diving torch, you can see the real colors of the underwater no matter what the depth is. It’s possible to see the bioluminescence, the charm of night diving, which is the light of the platonic organisms seen as the water moves.

There are some factors that the divers must consider during the night diving. First of all, the diving equipment must be chosen and controlled more carefully compared to the day diving.

For the diving to be done in hard conditions, generally the divers choose to dive with the equipment to be used for the first time.  Under normal circumstances, they don’t use the equipment that they used before or they already know. Because the night diving is already difficult, the divers don’t want to struggle with the problems cause by the equipment.

TEKİROAVA KOYU (PHASELİS) ANCHORAGE

Tekiroava, Kemer - Antalya - Turkey

GPS : 36°31'00.0"N 30°33'00.0"E / 36.516667, 30.550000

PHOTOGRAPHS ALBUM

PHASELIS PHOTOGRAPHS ALBUM

Tekirova Limanı lies between the long sandy shores of Çamyuva and Tekirova beaches where ancient Phaselis is located. Ancient Phaselis is located on the eastern side of the beach.  Boats drop anchor in 3 - 6 meters off the beach by the point on the west. Isolated reefs run out from the point. Prevailing wind sends swell in. This bay is popular for excursion boats and is crowded by noon.

It is best to come early visit Phaselis before the excursion boats arrive. Ancient Phaselis is on the east of the beach. The port entrance is blocked by rocks. You can enter the inlet by dinghy. The inlet used to be the port of Phaselis. The isthmus on which the ancient Lycian/Roman town of Phaselis or Tekirova was built has anchorages on both the north and south side from which the ruins of Phaselis can be visited.

The anchorage on the north side has numerous dangers to the NE and the bottom is littered with large blocks of masonry to snag your anchor, so is little used by yachts. The ancient harbour immediately adjacent, while picturesque, is too shallow for yachts to use. Most yachts moor in the south anchorage, where shelter from the prevailing winds is good and the holding also good on sand. Some swell is experienced overnight, but usually it is not troublesome.

Warning
Care is needed on the approach and it is advisable to have someone on the bow conning you in on a first visit, in view of a dangerous sunken breakwater (partly visible above water) which extends from the eastern side of the cove just below a conspicuous ancient wall. The best approach is to aim for the centre of the bay on a course of 345°, giving the sunken breakwater at least 100 m clearance. Once in the cove, anchor in 6 m about 100 m off the beach.

PHASELIS

GPS : 36°31'47.8"N 30°32'32.0"E / 36.529952, 30.542216

Phaselis was an ancient Greek and Roman city on the coast of Lycia. Its ruins are located north of the modern town Tekirova in the Kemer district of Antalya Province in Turkey. It lies between the Bey Mountains and the forests of Olympos National Park, 16 km west of the touristic town of Kemer and on the 57th kilometre of the Antalya - Kumluca highway. Phaselis and other ancient towns around the shore can also be accessed from the sea by daily yacht tours.

Ashore, the ruins of Phaselis or Tekirova are beautifully sited and atmospheric. The remains include city walls, several arches of a Roman aqueduct, ruined Roman baths and a rather intimate theatre with stunning views over the mountains to the north. Most of the remains are clustered around the ancient so-called Harbour Street, which crosses the isthmus between the north and south anchorages. If you can, visit in the afternoon or before 10.30 in the morning. Between 10:30 and early afternoon the cove fills with noisy gulets from Kemer and Antalya and you will get little peace.

The town was set up by the Rhodians in 700 BC. Because of its location on an isthmus separating two harbours, it became the most important harbour city of the western Lycia and an important centre of commerce between Greece, Asia, Egypt, and Phoenicia, although it did not belong to the Lycian League. The city was captured by Persians after they conquered Asia Minor, and was later captured by Alexander the Great.

After the death of Alexander, the city remained in Egyptian hands from 209 BC to 197 BC, under the dynasty of Ptolemaios, and with the conclusion of the Apamea treaty, was handed over to the Kingdom of Rhodes, together with the other cities of Lycia. From 190 BC to 160 BC it remained under Rhodeian hegemony, but after 160 BC it was absorbed into the Lycian confederacy under Roman rule. Phaselis, like Olympos, was under constant threat from pirates in the 1st century BC, and the city was even taken over by the pirate Zekenites for a period until his defeat by the Romans. In 42 BC Brutus had the city linked to Rome.

During the Byzantine period, the city became a bishopric, although in the 3rd century AD, its convenient harbor had fallen under the threat of pirates once again. So it began to lose importance, suffering further losses at the hands of Arab ships, until totally impoverished in the 11th century AD. There was a temple of Athene at Phaselis, where the lance of Achilles was exhibited. It was the birthplace of the poet and orator Theodectes. It was also renowned for its roses, from which the essence was extracted. When the Seljuqs began to concentrate on Alanya and Antalya as ports, Phaselis ceased to be a port of any note.

Phaselis has three harbours : the 'Northern Harbour', the 'Battle Harbour' and the 'Protected (Sun) Harbour', of which the last is the most important today. A 24-metre-wide ancient street runs through the middle of the city. The 'Hadrian Waterway Gate' is on the southern part of the street. There are ruins of shops and stores on the sides of the street and near these are ruins of public places such as Roman baths, agoras and theatres. These structures are dated to the 2nd century BC. There are water canals between the town centre and the 70 m plateau. There are also numerous sarcophagi.

ÇIRALI LİMAN KOYU ANCHORAGE

Kemer - Antalya - Turkey

GPS : 36°25'01.8"N 30°29'18.1"E / 36.417159, 30.488365

PHOTOGRAPHS ALBUM

Çıralı Liman lies to the west of Yöremenci Burnu. The shoreline is sandy. Çıralı Bay is a fair-weather anchorage. You can drop anchor in 10 - 15 meters off the beach. From here you can visit the important ancient Lycian city of Olympos, which is on the Akpınar River in the valley.

The cove of Çıralı Liman is exposed to the N but one can anchor here in settled weather for a visit to the site of ancient Olympos. By afternoon the prevailing S - SE winds can raise some swell, so a morning visit is better. Anchor in 5 - 6 metres about 100 metres off the beach. The holding is good on sand. One can also anchor at Çeneviz Liman and come here with the dinghy.

The setting is tremendous, and swimming in the river’s cool water (near the entrance) is a delight. Çıralı Bay is one of the most popular spots for excursion boats, it is always better to reach here before noon time. The village of Çıralı is situated inland, and the famous Yanartaş is accessible from there. A rough path leads to the mythological Chimaera, who was thought to be Lycia’s fire-breathing monster.

ÇIRALI VILLAGE

Çıralı is an agricultural village in southwest Turkey, in the Kemer district of Antalya Province. It is walking distance from the ancient ruins of Olympos and Chimaera permanent gas vents, located in the ancient Lycia region of Anatolia.

Çıralı is a small rural village located just over an hour's drive southwest from Antalya and has a 3.5 km secluded beach. The ancient ruins of Olympos are located on the far end of the sea side and in a long hike up the mountains the flames of the Chimaera / Yanartaş can be found.

Çıralı is also known for being an area protected by the WWF for the nesting of caretta, also known as loggerhead sea turtles. The excellent 3.5 km beach is a popular nesting site for loggerhead and green sea turtles, and the crystal clear water makes for superb swimming.

Çıralı's beach is surrounded by family-run pensions conveniently located for tourists. Little cafes run along the seashore down to the side of the beach with the ancient ruins of Olympos. The location of the beach allows people to enjoy the sunrise that spreads over the salty Mediterranean sea.

The "secret seaside" is also near the Ulupınar region, which is rich in rivers and creeks. In fact, Çıralı is one of the last untouched natural areas along the Antalya coastline.

The coastal hamlet of Çıralı, 80 km south-west of Antalya on the Lycian Way, is a pure delight. This low-key resort in the Beydağları National Park is a popular holiday spot with Turkish families and the odd western European who, like us, arrived by happy fluke.

At the northern end of the beach you can explore the ruins of the ancient Lycian city of Olympos, where visitors to the beach ramble over the ruins of an amphitheatre, aqueducts and byzantine tombs. You can opt for quirky treehouse accommodation in the Olympos valley, or a more peaceful option is to stay in Çıralı itself at one of the small guesthouses.

Farthest east and closest to big-city Antalya is Çıralı, a modest if strung-out hamlet among the swathes of citrus groves engulfing a fertile plain between spectacular mountains and a two-mile shingle beach. There are family-orientated pensions and a strip of simple beach-front restaurants, all offering their customers’ free sun-beds and umbrellas.

Kemer - Antalya - Turkey

GPS : 36°35'51.0"N 30°35'01.2"E / 36.597500, 30.583667

PHOTOGRAPHS ALBUM

Kemer East Bay is the cove immediately to the east of the Kemer Marina. It offers a sheltered anchorage in the prevailing S/SE seabreezes and reasonable protection from the northerly land breeze.

Gulets normally occupy the western shore under the headland, but there is plenty of room to anchor further east outside the buoyed swimming areas. Anchor in 3 - 5 metres on sand. The beach is lined with sunbeds and beach bars and you will not be alone in here.
