Çiftlik is a small village in the Marmaris district, Muğla Province, Turkey. It is a popular first-day stay for yachts sailing west to Marmaris. Çiftlik is a protected cove about 14 Nm SW from Marmaris. There is also one hotel in the bay, the Green Platan. An island on the south provides shelter in the bay from Meltimi.
The thick sand of Çiftlik’s beaches attract many visitors. There are only a few of this type of beach around Marmaris and the nearby coves, especially as it has crystal clear and clean waters. Leave yourself to enjoy the waters, swim for while and then lie down on the sand beach. The beach, which runs all around the cove, is not crowded barring at midday when daily boat tours take a break here. However, by comparison with the past, Çiftlik Cove does not have its former quietness.
The large sandy beach of the Çiftlik Bay attracts attention. There are very few beaches like Çiftlik beach in Marmaris and the other surrounding bays. The sea is always very clear. Çiftlik is famous with its sandy beach. The big sands are very rare in and around Marmaris coves. The sea is always bright in Çiflik and the beach covers the whole cove. The cove is a popular pit stop of the daily boat tours. The beach is becoming crowded with the daily boat visitors. The Gebekse Cove nearby the beach is also popular mooring area for the voyagers.
Now you can feel a bit crowded with a holiday house complex, two hotels, a water sports facility, a holiday village that as yet only has its restaurant and entertainment centre running and the restaurants on the waterfront.
At the entrance of Çiftlik Cove there is an island, though as it is privately owned you can’t visit without permission. The rocky areas at both ends of the cove are suitable for diving but there are hardly any fish to hunt with a spear. For better diving you can go to the nearby Gebekse Cove by boat.
There are several seaside restaurants with moorings here serving good food. You can either anchor off at the northern end of the bay or tie up to one of the four restaurant jetties. Most of the restaurants have laid moorings tailed to the jetty, water, electricity, toilets/showers and free Wi-Fi.
Rafetbaba Restaurant

Rafetbaba’s restaurant is one of our recommendations, a large shady restaurant overlooking the bay. They have mooring lines for up to 18 yachts with staff waiting on the pontoon to take your lines & lend a hand. For any sailor visiting this restaurant the mooring is free & includes electricity, water plus Wi-Fi. They offer good facilities with hot showers.
Rafets oven-baked bread is delicious freshly made throughout the day. The restaurant offers a great selection of mezes & salads: their calamari is some of the best. Main courses range from meat on the grill, kebabs & casseroles to fresh fish, seafood & a good choice of vegetarian meals.
Çiftlik Koyu lies between points Kalemlik Burnu and Adatepe Burnu. An islet Küçük Çiftlik Adası on your starboard is identified. On the beach side of Adatepe Peninsula, there are reefs -1.2 meters deep, extending out for about 40 - 50 m, about 300 m offshore. Proceed with caution when approaching this bay. The shores are densily wooded by pine trees. The beach side goes for about 1.5 km. There are two anchorages here. A cove at NW end of the peninsula is adequate shelter, boats can anchor off in 7 - 10 m.
Çiftlik Adası

A large bay on N of Çiftlik Adası. There are sufficient depths on both passages. The bottom is weed-sand. Boats can be pushed off in 5 - 9 m on the western side. The slopes are covered by pine and olive trees. Çiftlik Koyu provides sheltering from breeze, but it is open to south. Breeze blows down from valley behind. There are gusts in the bay.
There are moorings and buoys of the boats for inhabitants. Gullets drop anchor on the sheer shores on the west and take a line ashore, but this side gets swell. A cove on the west is also loaded with moorings and buoys. A wooden pier on this part is for the diving boat berthing. Diving tours and courses are arranged in summer.
There are number of jetties of the restaurants. There are laid moorings tailed on jetties. Water and electricity connections are available. Provisons can be found from the grocery shops. Wireless connections are provided from the reastaurants. There is also one hotel in the bay, the Green Platan.

Most of the restaurants have laid moorings tailed to the jetty, water, electricity, toilets/showers and free WiFi (enquire before mooring up if any of these is important to you). The restarant on the extreme east is rather smarter and more expensive than the others. Mehmet Place has water/electricity and wiFi and is more in line with budget cruising.
Acropolis
Visit the acropolis that is 2 km from the northeast side of the village and you can walk there in just half an hour, you will see remains of the city walls, some structures, and gravestones. In the village there is the Old Plane Tree that is 2,300 years of age and is a very popular tourist attraction. It is assumed that there is a temple dedicated to Asklepios - the god of health - on the place where there is a mosque now.
This mosque has been built on ancient Syrna town in Bayır village. There is almost no remains from this temple. The Acropolis of Syrna town is 2 km northeast side of the village on Yancağız Hill. Ancient rocky road could be followed to go to Acropolis from Bayır. It takes approximately 30 minutes to climb here. It is possible to see city wall pieces, grave stone remains and building leavings in Acropolis. Probably the grave stones in Bayır graveyard comes from Syrna town.
Regular minibus services are available to Bayır 7 km and Marmaris 35 km.
