Sailing in Turkey also allows visitors to experience the hospitality of the people in the coastal villages and towns. The tempered winds blowing from west and northwest make the long summers ideal for yachting, and seem to encourage an appreciation of nature. From some of the turquoise coast's unspoilt and sheltered bays you can see mountain peaks rising to almost 3000 meters above sea level.

BEŞTAŞ (KALEVEZİ) KOYU ANCHORAGE

Fethiye - Muğla - Turkey

GPS : 36°33'30.4"N 29°05'11.0"E / 36.558448, 29.086393

Bektaş Koyu indents to the north on NE of Gemiler Island where there are two creeks on E and W.

Just south and on the same peninsula from Fethiye is Beştaş Limanı. There are plenty of quiet coves on this side of the peninsula, south of the main town of Kayaköy. From this bay you can walk into town in less than one hour. You’ll pass some ruins and once you get into town, don’t miss the churches.

Beştaş Limanı has both rocky and beach coastline. Most people take refuge to the west and to the east of the main bay. The water is deep but taking a swim is soothing, as this place is also called "Cold Water Bay" for the cold spring water that makes the water temps drop 20 C degrees. If you’re crazy enough, it’s a fun pastime to rock dive into the water here.
